Facility Inspections

Grade: A

While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with an A. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with too many severe deficiencies flagged. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this nursing home only received a D for its long-term care rating, which ended up being one of its more respectable category scores. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.66555 percent of its patients, which is better than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is well below average in this category. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be most critical for those requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the next area, this facility did not perform very well here either. With a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. In calculating our nursing ratings, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This number is quite a bit below average. On top of receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this facility was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and found this place was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
