Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

Although we didn't grade this facility favorably overall, we actually gave it an excellent score in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its long-term care grade. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 72.897194 percent of its residents. This is multiple points less than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. There are a variety of subcategories included in this category. Most of these datapoints relate to staffing levels. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This number is significantly below the national average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we scored is short-term care. We gave it an F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. With a grade in this range in this area, we were not surprised to find that this facility was well below average in the two key staffing metrics we focus on. The facility offered significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
