Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of earning a strong overall grade, this facility also earned an elite short-term care grade. We awarded them one of our better grades in that area, with an A. In the category of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This facility also performed well in the area of inspections. In fact, it earned a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. Few facilities with an overall score in this range performed as well in multiple categories. Our inspection ratings are tied to many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's inspections. Facilities that excel in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing category includes several subcategories, many of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next area we rated is long-term care, in which this nursing home was awarded a C. This is this nursing home's worst area. This is nevertheless not a bad grade. Our long-term care grade focuses on a nursing home's personal care rather than the highly skilled therapy and medical services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this facility vaccinated 95.71429 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
