Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we gave it a B- for inspections. This grade is better than the place's overall score. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was assessed 10 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

One of this facility's more respectable category scores was in the category of short-term care. This turned out to be its second most favorable category. In that category, we awarded this facility a C. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing rating considers a host of factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, while this place got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next category we assessed was long-term care, proved to be this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave this nursing home a D in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 92.85714 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
