Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection grades are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also would like to emphasize the fact that this facility received an elite grade of A in our short-term care area. In forming these short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received a strong score of A- in our long-term care category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.66102 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth category we scored is nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of B+. This completed a very strong report card. Very few nursing homes earned a B+ or better in in each area we assessed. Our nursing rating includes many factors, but the most important one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality measures we assessed. For example, in terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided with better nursing care.
