Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Even though we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable short-term care score this year. We gave it a grade of C in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we can find for this facility. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is frequently a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. It offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing rating is mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This number is quite a bit below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Unfortunately, this nursing home received a lowly F for its inspection score. This is a particularly important category. Scores in this range typically point to some red flags on the facility's inspections. When a place has this bad of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we rated was long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this category, which is an abysmal score. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 95.652176 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
