Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing ratings are mostly associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was strong in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Very few facilities received a better grade in this area. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 95 percent of its residents, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth area we rated is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B+. This completed a very impressive profile. Not many nursing homes received a B+ or higher in every single category. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This rating is frequently a useful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
