Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also found that this facility excelled in our long-term care rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 86.60287 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Nursing grades are primarily associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also was given an A+ for its short-term care score. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Turning to our inspection category, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. This topped off this place's straight A report card. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
