Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This nursing home received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially would like to emphasize its nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this area. Inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area generally have very few severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. Our nursing rating assesses several factors, but the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also strong in the category of short-term care, where it was given a score of B+. It performed more favorably than most nursing homes in this category. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive area was long-term care, which is the final category we analyzed. For this area, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 93.918915 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
