Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The primary reason this facility received a decent overall grade is its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better scores in that category, with an A-. This is a notably better score than the place's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third area we analyzed was short-term care, where this facility received a B- in this category. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to forge a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to our next area, this nursing home really did not perform very well. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this was this nursing home's poorest category. For residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 95.92593 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
