Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we could find for this facility. Short-term care grades are generally used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing grade is mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is far below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Among this facility's alarming category grades was an F for its inspection grade. More often than not, this means we found some red flags on the facility's inspection reports. For facilities with poor inspection grades, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This facility was hit with one category J through K deficiency, which are among the worst deficiencies. Finally, we need to point out that this place was assessed significant government fines recently totaling over $100,000. This usually signifies that a poor track record spanned several years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our final area, this nursing home did not perform very well here either. With a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 95.7672 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
