Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to earning a strong overall score, this nursing home also earned an elite short-term care grade. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that area, with an A-. Our short-term care ratings are probably most important for individuals requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B+. Nursing ratings are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. We weren't able to find deficiency data for this facility. Without having the deficiency related data for this nursing home, it ended up being challenging to fully grade it in the inspections category.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we graded was long-term care, is this facility's least impressive area. We awarded this nursing home a D in that category. This really is one of the couple of weak links on a strong report card. Nursing homes that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility gave the vaccine to only 87.755104 percent of its residents, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
