Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great facility overall, it also earned A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections are nearly flawless. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a patient more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also performed well in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of A-. Very few facilities received a better grade in this category. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 89.057755 percent of its residents, which is somewhat lower than we expected. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the fourth area, this facility was given a highly favorable short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in this area, wrapping up one of our better profiles. In our short-term care score, we strive to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
