Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving an elite overall score, this nursing home also earned an A+ inspection rating. This grade is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the best complements we can offer a facility. Our inspection grades are tied to datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ for its nursing grade. Nursing scores are primarily tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving patients at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

The third area we analyzed is short-term care. This nursing home also was awarded an A+ short-term care grade, rendering it one of the few nursing homes to be given multiple A+ category scores. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

The fourth category we graded is long-term care. We gave it another superb score of A+ in this area. This finalized a perfect profile of straight A+'s. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. One of the data points we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 86.95652 percent of its residents. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
