Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home received superb marks in the area of short-term care. As a result, it was given one of our most impressive grades in that category with a grade of A+. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most important for residents needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Our nursing grade consists of a handful of components, many of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning a resident more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for our long-term care rating. This completed an elite profile. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 94.72222 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
