Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its nearly flawless health inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Our inspection grades are based on many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to the category of short-term care, we awarded this facility a grade of A- in that area. In calculating our short-term care scores, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This score is often a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. The nursing grade features many factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the last category we scored. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 96.42857 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place also keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
