Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its impeccable inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that category, with an A+. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's second highest category turned out to be its short-term care score, where it received a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are crucial for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It does not appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next most favorable category ended up being its long-term care score, where it received a grade of B-. Long-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of nursing care. This means a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. We were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated just 80.5093 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the last category, we awarded this facility a D for our nursing category. This is the facility's weakest category grade. Of course, this score hurt the facility's overall profile to a certain degree. We weighed the levels of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time those nurses were with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This place averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is not a very impressive figure. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this nursing home also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, these statistics pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating quite a bit.
