Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Utah in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning residents at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ for its short-term care grade. In determining these short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on to our last area, this facility received a highly favorable long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that area, giving this facility straight A's. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.481865 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
