Facility Inspections

Grade: C

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of C. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility had 4 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were category G through L deficiencies. This indicates it avoided the more significant classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this nursing home's second best category is long-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this area, it still performed somewhat poorly. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated just 75.539566 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. There are quite a few factors included in this grade. Many of the datapoints reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we rated was short-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is an abysmal grade. Our short-term care grade is often used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Given its score in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
