Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it a B- for inspections. This grade is better than the place's overall score. Inspection scores are tied to many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Nursing scores are largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This place provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in some of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this area.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest area we gave this facility in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are arguably most important for those requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to our final category, this facility was given an acceptable long-term care grade of B-. For residents looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 91.35135 percent of its patients, which is a bit below what we anticipated. Nevertheless, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
