Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of short-term care. This ended up being its second most favorable category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B-. Our short-term care ratings are probably most critical for folks in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third category we analyzed was long-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a solid grade of B-. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 64.42308 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last category we assessed was nursing, turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this category. This really was one of just a few weak points on an otherwise impressive profile. There are many subcategories within this category. Many of the criteria are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this nursing home was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and found this place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this statistic.
