Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility fared even better in the area of inspections which is based on the facility's recent inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A+ for that category, which is one of our best scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that category with a score of B+. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home is also above average in the area of long-term care, where it was awarded a score of B. It performed more favorably than most nursing homes in this area. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 68.92308 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we anticipated but still a respectable figure. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Our next category is nursing, in which we awarded this facility a C in this category. There are a variety of subcategories within this category. Most of these factors relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also baked a few quality-based metrics into our nursing scores. This place was subpar in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are usually decent indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
