Facility Inspections

Grade: B

While we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it a B for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had a long list of deficiencies. This facility was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's second best category was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a slightly below average grade in this area. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. The hope is that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, nursing scores also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we analyzed is long-term care, proved to be this facility's worst category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in this category. For residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 97.540985 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
