Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong facility overall, this place excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Not many facilities performed better in that category. Our inspection scores are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Additionally, this nursing home also was awarded favorable long-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our higher grades in that area, with a score of B+. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 98.809525 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a life or death ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best area came in the area of short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. Short-term care grades are meaningful for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next category we scored was nursing. For that category, we gave this nursing home a C. Our nursing rating includes many subcategories, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we like to look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are measures of the quality of nursing care.
