Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Although we were down on this facility overall, we awarded it a B in nursing. Nursing scores are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Remarkably, this nursing home actually received a good score in the area of inspections as well. We gave it a B for that category, which is one of our better grades. Few facilities that were this poor overall earned multiple category grades of this caliber. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care rating. This is not a very good score. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a score in this range for this category, we weren't stunned to learn this nursing home was well below average in two of the key staffing metrics we assess. The facility offered far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final category we analyzed was long-term care, was this nursing home's worst category. We awarded this facility a D in that category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were concerned by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 82.02248 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
