Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we gave it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This score is better than this facility's overall score. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's long-term care rating is one of its more favorable features. The facility was awarded a grade of B- in this category. In calculating our long-term care grades, we analyze the assistance with daily living offered to the nursing home's residents. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home was given its next highest category score in the area of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in this category, which is a decent grade. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last area we scored was nursing, which proved to be this facility's worst area. We gave this facility a D in that category. Our nursing rating is based on many data points, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Unfortunately, this nursing home also had terrible marks in several of the quality-based metrics to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers. This nursing home was at more than double the national average in this statistic. This is alarming when you consider that so many pressure ulcers are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of receiving a very weak nursing rating.
