Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We really couldn't find anything good to say about this facility. It received a D in the area of long-term care. Unfortunately, this ended up being its best category. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of short-term care, this facility received a grade of just D in this area. As it turns out, this proved to be one of its best areas. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is often a useful measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. With a grade this poor in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in two of the key staffing metrics we looked at. In fact, it provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. Our nursing score is largely based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Turning our last category of inspections, this facility received a terrible score. We weight this grade more heavily than other categories. We would advise paying special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We suggest you scrutinize the level of severity of those deficiencies. This facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
