Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we graded this nursing home very poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing rating this year. We gave it a B- in this area. Our nursing rating consists of a handful of subcategories, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages just 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility also didn't rate poorly in the category of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a B- for that category, which is another one of its more favorable grades. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The critical question is whether this also impacted quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's second lowest score is long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that area. This is a relatively poor grade. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 91.860466 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we anticipated but still a decent percentage. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

The last category we looked at is inspections. This facility did not receive favorable government inspections in recent years. In fact, we gave it an F in this category. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of those deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
