Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To pair with its strong overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A- for our nursing grade. When calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we look at the amount of time nurses are caring for patients and the levels of training of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Adding to its strong resume, this facility earned a grade of B for its inspections rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Our inspection ratings are tied to items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is what you want to see on an inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home is also strong in the category of short-term care, where it was awarded a grade of B. It performed better than most nursing homes in this area. In our short-term care category, we seek to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we considered the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we scored was long-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in that area. Long-term care grades are typically used to gauge a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services offered by a skilled nursing facility. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 99.23664 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
