Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we would like to note its decent health inspections in recent years. We gave it a relatively respectable grade of B- in this area. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third most favorable category we gave this facility in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. In calculating our short-term care grades, we size up a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is frequently a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we graded is long-term care. We gave it a grade of B- in this area. This is a fair grade in this category. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 92.201836 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
