Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

To pair with its strong overall score, this facility earned a B+ for its long-term care rating. This is a strong grade in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 94.38596 percent of its patients. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths for the elderly population. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Adding to its strong resume, this facility earned a grade of B for its inspections rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Our nursing score looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we looked at was short-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in this category. In determining our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This area is typically a reliable assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. It does not appear that this nursing home submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. The last statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
