Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a great facility overall, it also received A+ inspections in recent years. Its inspections were nearly perfect. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this area typically have few severe deficiencies. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to note the fact that this nursing home received a strong score of A- in our long-term care area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are kept in good health. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 94.02516 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. Our nursing score looks at the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we analyzed is short-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our higher grades in that area, with a grade of B. While this was not as dominant as several of this nursing home's other grades, it is still a positive grade. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this nursing home submitted information on registered nurse or physical therapist staffing. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
