Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that area with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning to an additional strength for this facility, it also received a top-shelf long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded this facility a score of A. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 90.10101 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is a few points lower than we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this facility a grade of D. Our nursing grade assesses quite a few components, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This number is quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we graded is short-term care, which is this nursing home's worst area. Sadly, it received an F for this category, which is obviously concerning. Short-term care grades are generally used to assess a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
