Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall score, this facility performed even better in the area of inspections which is based on the facility's recent government inspection reports. We gave it an A for this category, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to this nursing home's list of achievements, it also was awarded a fine short-term care grade. We gave them an elite grade of A- in this category. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B-. While this is its least impressive category grade, this is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 94.23729 percent of its patients. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
