Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although this place's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a slightly more favorable grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a grade of B- for this area, which is a decent score. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an B-. Our nursing grade is based on many datapoints, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility was given its third most favorable category grade in the category of short-term care. We gave this facility a grade of C in this category, which is a respectable score. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next category we assessed is long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's weakest category. We awarded this nursing home a D in this area. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.947365 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
