Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to earning a great overall grade, this nursing home also received an elite nursing grade. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of A-. There are a host of datapoints included in this grade. Many of the factors reflect levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of moving patients even once per day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this nursing home's impressive category grades came in the category of long-term care. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with a score of B+. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 95.14563 percent of its patients, which is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

We also wanted to emphasize this nursing home's nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them a grade of B+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. We wish we had more data for this facility. Without having access to information regarding deficiencies, it was challenging to grade it in the inspections category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we assessed was short-term care. We awarded this facility one of our higher scores in that area, with a B. This facility ended up being strong across the board. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
