Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly health condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility does not take any chances. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

The third category we assessed was short-term care. This nursing home also was given an A+ short-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to be awarded more than one A+ category scores. In our short-term care rating, we strive to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

Switching gears to our next area, this facility also was given an A+ nursing grade, making it one of an elite group of facilities to receive four A+'s. In calculating our nursing ratings, we assess both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these statistics as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care offered, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
