Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

We also wanted to note the fact that this nursing home was awarded a top-shelf grade of A in our long-term care category. Facilities that do well in this category tend to provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 97.2028 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. We looked at the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses were with residents, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Turning to the last category, this facility received an extremely favorable short-term care rating. We gave it a grade of A- in that category, rounding out a straight A profile. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses.
