Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also earned an elite short-term care grade. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of A. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an B+. Our nursing rating looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another of this nursing home's strengths, it also earned a very impressive inspection grade. In fact, inspections proved to be one of its best category grades. In that category, we gave this nursing home an impressive grade of B+. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final category we rated is long-term care. This facility was awarded a grade of C in this category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 85.43689 percent of its residents. This is several points less than average. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
