Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

We also wanted to point out that this facility earned near flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its dominant performance in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- for its long-term care score. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After we finished assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 98.91892 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing grade assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category we assessed, this facility was awarded a very favorable grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility rounded out a straight A profile. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
