Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a quality facility overall, this facility excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A. Few facilities fared better in this category. Our inspection scores weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility truly excelled in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 97.97298 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. When computing our nursing scores, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a relatively low total compared to most facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place actually excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Switching gears to our next category, this facility was awarded a decent short-term care rating. Even though this wasn't as impressive as many of its other grades, this is really a middle of the pack score. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
