Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also performed well in long-term care, where it received an A+. Few facilities performed better in this area. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.22179 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid negative health outcomes for the elderly population. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Compounding its dominant accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this facility a score of A for its short-term care score. Our short-term care ratings are presumably most meaningful for those requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Tallying another strong category grade, this facility also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

The fourth category we assessed is nursing, where this nursing home received a grade of A. This topped off an elite report card. Very few facilities earned an A- or higher in every category. Our nursing score includes many data points, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This facility fared well in some of the quality measures we assessed. For example, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented with better nursing care.
