Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving an elite overall score, this nursing home also received an A+ inspection rating. This score is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also awarded this facility a grade of A- for our long-term care grade. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.25595 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a life threatening condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third area we looked at was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a B- in this category. In the category of short-term care, we try to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. It doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

The last category we rated is nursing, which was a weak link for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of D in the area of nursing, leaving this as the facility's least impressive category grade. We would still recommend that you look at the bigger picture. Our nursing score includes many factors. The most heavily weighted one is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. With only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below the national average. Unfortunately, this nursing home also did not fare as well as we hoped in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed for this category.
