Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid facilities that have a long list of deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this nursing home's more favorable category grades was in the area of long-term care. This ended up being its second best category. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of B-. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We found that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 88.54962 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. Our nursing score analyzes a handful of datapoints, however, the main consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the next category, this nursing home really did not fare very well in this area either. With an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we learned that this place offers significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this facility's short-term care score.
