Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We also would like to point out the fact that this nursing home has earned excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to alert you to the fact that this nursing home was given an impressive grade of A in our short-term care area. In computing these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility received an impressive grade of A- in our nursing category. Our nursing score weighs several subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we rated was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a solid grade of B-. This proved to be this nursing home's least impressive area. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.2278 percent of its patients, which is a very solid figure. This place keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
