Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received a much better grade for nursing than it received overall. In fact, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A-. In calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

This nursing home also received favorable government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. This is better than the facility's overall grade. Inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility's third most favorable category came in the area of short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a C. In our short-term care score, we endeavor to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we assessed was long-term care, is this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave this nursing home a grade of D in this category. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 91.732285 percent of its residents, which is somewhat below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
