Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home earned an A+ inspection grade. This is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the best complements we can offer a facility. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that category, we awarded this facility an A-. Our nursing rating is based on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Georgia in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a resident at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The next category we analyzed is long-term care. Adding to its elite resume, this facility also excelled in that area. In fact, we gave it a of A- for the area. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 93.46734 percent of its patients. This is slightly lower than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we assessed was short-term care, in which this facility received a grade of C. This actually ended up being this facility's least impressive category. This is still nothing to be ashamed of. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be more critical for those needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
