Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Inspection ratings are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this nursing home still received a relatively favorable report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best area is long-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.40829 percent of its residents. This nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The third area we analyzed is short-term care, in which this facility was given an F. Short-term care scores are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. With a grade of this caliber in this area, we weren't surprised to find this place was well below average in multiple staffing figures we focus on. It provided far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The next area we scored was nursing, where this nursing home received an abysmal grade in this area as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area, which is obviously a major concern. Our nursing score weighs many factors, however, the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This place averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This number is well below average. On top of receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this place was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and found that this place was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
