Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it earned an impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best scores in that area with an A-. Our inspection ratings are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's abysmal long-term care score where it was given an F. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 87.04857 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Nursing ratings are largely associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we analyzed is short-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in that area. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. With its score in this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the data we assessed. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.9 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
