Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. In fact, we gave it a B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's next best category is long-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. Long-term care ratings are vital for individuals seeking personal care. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.337746 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is more than most nursing homes. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. In determining our nursing grades, we look at both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home averaged just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the fourth area, this facility did not fare very well in this area either. With an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. As you might expect, we discovered that this place provides far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
